Lower Lumbar Pain Protocol

April 12th, 2009 · No Comments

Question:

I have a patient who is 68 years of age with lower lumbar pain across the back referring upward into the kidney area.   Her knees have been arthroscoped twice and she is still having pain there too. How can I help her?

Answer:

Lower Lumbar Pain can often be resolved by applying two sets of IceWave patches in the following manner.

Firstly, ask the patient to drink a glass of filtered water, preferably at room temperature.

Ask the patient to rate the pain out of 10, 10 being the highest rating.

Step 1:

Kidney-1Place a set of Lifewave Icewave patches to the sole of the feet, white on the right, tan on the left.
This position is known as Kidney 1.

Ask the patient to rate the pain again.
Note the change in the rating.

If pain is still present then placement of a second set of Icewave Patches on any one of the following positions may complete the removal of the pain.

Step 2:

L09_HandPlace a WHITE patch on the Lung 9 point on the right wrist and a TAN patch on the same point on the LEFT wrist.

Ask the patient to rate the pain again.
Note the change in the rating.

If the pain is not better in 10 seconds move these patches to the next position in step 3.

Step 3:

TripleBurner5 Place a WHITE patch on the TRIPLE BURNER 5 point on the RIGHT wrist and a TAN patch on the same point on the LEFT wrist.

Ask the patient to rate the pain again.
Note the change in the rating.

If the pain is not better in 10 seconds move these patches to the next position in step 4.

Step 4:

Heart-3 Place a WHITE patch on the HEART 3 point on the RIGHT arm and a TAN patch on the same point on the LEFT arm.

Ask the patient to rate the pain again.
Note the change in the rating.

If the pain is not better in 10 seconds move these patches to the next position in step 5.

Step 5:

TrippleBurner15 Place a WHITE patch on the Triple Burner 15 point on the RIGHT shoulder and a TAN patch on the same point on the LEFT shoulder.

Experience has shown that very often one set of IceWave patches placed on the bottom of the feet will relieve the pain throughout the body.  We have also found that when a second set of patches is necessary, that at least one of the other acupuncture points in this position will work extremely well in relieving pain.
